asian turkey meatballs

the chili garlic sauce i used in this recipe can be found at any chinese market. if you don't have one near you or can't find a similar product, you could substitute with hot sauce or Sriracha.

1 pound of ground turkey
3 green onions, chopped
1 clove of garlic, grated
1 teaspoon. of grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 teaspoon of chili-garlic sauce
2 egg yolks
sea salt & black pepper

in a bowl, mix the all ingredients until well combined. again, in my efforts to reduce my caloric intake, i avoided adding almond flour to this mixture. add about 3/4 of a cup of almond flour for more tender meatballs. (i'm truly hoping my recipes and creativity don't suffer in my quest for lower calories.)

in a preheated skillet coated in olive oil, brown the meatballs on all sides. if they are browning too quickly and not getting cooked in the middle, reduce the heat and cover.

this mixture was very sticky, so i was never able to get them shaped in actual 'balls'. do your best. obviously, with almond flour, they will be easier to handle.

i served this with the lemon-garlic broccolini. it was delicious!
