Hi Kerri!
Just stumbled onto your blog, great stuff! I too have lost a lot of weight eating this way. I'm excited to try out some of your recipes. BTW: Do you take fish oil??

Hey Trixie--

Congrats on the weight loss! I take 6 grams of fish oil per day. I find the easiest is 1 oz. in liquid form and my favorite brand is Carlson's in the orange flavor.

Best Wishes!

Thanks for the congrats! Is 1oz 1tbsp?? I'm also relived to hear that you believe calories still count. I don't know why so many low carbers think calories don't matter and you can eat as much fat as you want. I too stay within 1400-1700 daily to keep my weight stable.

There are 6 teaspoons per ounce and 1 teaspoon usually eguals 1 gram of EPA-DHA. If you are curious as to how much is recommended, Robb Wolf and Whole 9 have created a fish oil calculator. Here is a link: http://whole9life.com/2010/03/robb-wolf-fish-oil-calculator/

Food quality is super important, but if maintaining or losing weight is your goal, calories are crucial. I'm currently trying to lean out a little more, so I've reduced my overall caloric intake to get there!

Food quaility has definatly helped me with mood and blood suagr for sure!
BTW:6tsp would be an extra 240 calories a day of fish oil. Do you count that in your daily calories??
Thank you!

i have to be honest, i don't actually COUNT my calories. fish oil is something i take rain or shine, no matter what. in the past few months in my efforts to reduce caloric intake, i have just been more aware of portion sizes and how much food i actually eat. obviously, like we talked about, calories DO count, so i am aware of the fish oil calories, but i usually make up for them somewhere else. (sorry for the lengthy response!)
